Palestine Islamic Bank participates in the 21st Annual AAOIFI Conference for Shari’a Boards
PIB will take part in the 21st Annual AAOIFI Conference for Shari’a Boards, held in Bahrain on May 7th and 8th, 2023. It will include discussions with Sharia scholars, policy makers, decision makers, leaders and other Islamic finance experts.
At the conference, PIB will be represented by the General Manager, Dr. Imad Al-Sadi, the Chairman of the Shari’a Supervisory Board, Dr Alaa Razia, and Shari’a Supervisory Board member, Dr. Ayman Jweleis. The conference will be attended by representatives of global Islamic banking and financial institutions, as well as representatives of regulatory institutions and regional and international officials.
According to Al-Sadi, the conference addresses a number of important topics related to Islamic banking and finance and is therefore one of the most important conferences in this field in the world.
He added: “PIB is participating because it is an active member of all Islamic banking and finance institutions. Our management at all levels wants to contribute to the development of Islamic finance. Participation in such events also strengthens our relations with representatives of global Islamic banking and finance institutions. They provide an excellent forum for exchanging experiences and developing more innovative services and products that meet the aspirations of customers.”
In turn, Dr Alaa Razia said that the conference was important because of the nature of the issues it discusses during its sessions. It addresses the latest topics in Islamic finance and banking, such as legislative developments in Islamic finance, and Islamic banking and digital assets. These sessions also help in reaching conclusions and recommendations that can provide solutions to a number of issues.
Razia also explained that the conference contributed to strengthening the capabilities of Islamic banking and finance institutions to face rapid changes around the world which caused further challenges to Islamic banking despite the steady growth and expansion it had recently witnessed.
PIB’s mission and vision focus on providing quality and modern Sharia-compliant banking solutions and investing in technology. PIB also has a digital transformation strategy, which led to the launch of pioneering digital services such as the 24-hour digital call center, Islami Online and Islami Mobile services. Such products and services provide a unique package of easy and safe banking services which enhance the digital experience for individual and corporate customers. The bank was recently awarded the 2022 “Best bank for providing Islamic banking services and products in Palestine” award by The Arab Bankers Association and “The Banking Executive” magazine.
