Palestine Islamic Bank Organize a Voluntary Day at Qalqilya Governorate

Activities included Trees Planting in Lands located by the Annexation wall

 

Last Saturday, over 70 of Palestine Islamic Bank’s staff members carried out a voluntary activity at Qalqilya Governorate, the activities included; planting trees in the streets of Qalqilya city, and cleaning groves located near the annexation wall, the day was organized in cooperation with Qalqilya governorate, Qalqilya Chamber of Commerce, and the councils in the targeted villages (Habla and Azbat Jaloud), and finally; the Palestinian Red Crescent in Habla village.

The main voluntary activity was planting tens of trees at the new “Courts Complex St”, the employees and in cooperation with Qalqilya municipality staff members worked on digging and transferring the trees, which helps with the enhancing the city’s scenery, the activities then moved to Habla village which is located on the “Green Line” where they were introduced to the area and its strategic importance, also the threat it lives under where they worked on cleaning “Awlad Al-Awwam” Shrine which is located at Al-Hurriyeh garden, the volunteers then moved to Azbat Jaloud village where they were given a tour in the village and got introduced to the most important features and products, which include aquifers and guava cultivation.

Doha Al Wazany; Palestine Islamic Bank’s Public Relations Manager said: “This activity is organized in response to PIB policy in all activities organized by the bank, which falls within its social responsibility framework, this responsibility can be towards organizations or through voluntary work, the selection of programs and projects the Bank choose to support is based on the level of positive influence these projects can bring and sustain this influence”. She then extended her thanks to all BIP staff and partners who contributed in the afforestation campaign and paid a visit to Awlad Al-Awam archaeological site.

Al Wazany pointed out that the interest in archaeological sites, visiting them, and help preserve them comes within one of the Bank's voluntary programs for the staff, which was launched last year under the title;“My Homeland Paths”, an initiative that was launched among the staff, includes visits to threatened archaeological sites in different Palestinian governorates, the initiative aims to bring attention to historical and archaeological sites in Palestine, and also aims to enhance the national belonging and identity.

The following names participated in the tree planting activity at the “Court Complex St, which were; The deputy mayor of Qalqilya, Dr. Bassem Al-Hashim, Mr.Mohammed Qutqat; Director of Chamber of Commerce in the city, Director of PIB Northern Region; Khitam Abu Ayta, other directors of the Bank's branches and offices in the northern West Bank and a number of municipal employees.
