MOU between PIB and Global Communities offering meals to the displaced in Gaza

Palestine Islamic Bank (PIB) signed a memorandum of understanding with Global Communities to offer thousands of hot meals to displaced families in Gaza. This initiative falls within the Bank’s efforts to relief our families in Gaza. It is also aligned with the national efforts to help them amidst the war they fell victim to, the humanitarian crisis they are suffering from, and their dire living conditions.

Pursuant to this memorandum, Global Communities will, in turn, agree with suppliers in Gaza to distribute meals to displaced families without delay.

Dr. Imad al-Sadi, General Manager of PIB, noted that supporting our families in Gaza amidst their appalling situation is a duty for our citizens and organizations as well as for the people abroad. He stressed that PIB is keen on assisting our families in Gaza any way it can, especially amidst severe shortages in their basic needs.

He added: “The Bank’s assistance and support falls within the scope of its Sustainable Social Responsibility Program. Under the umbrella of this Program, PIB makes dozens of contributions annually to support vital sectors and sustainable development efforts in Palestine. In this respect, we are now focusing our efforts on assisting our families in Gaza, especially amidst dire living conditions.”

Mrs. Lana Abu-Hijleh, Country Director of Global Communities, was proud of the active cooperation with the Palestinian private sector, namely during these difficult times for our people in Gaza. She noted that the generous support offered by PIB will greatly contribute to providing hot meals for thousands of families suffering from extreme hunger and lacking access to basic life needs.

She noted: “In the face of these challenges, the support we are receiving from PIB will foster our efforts to relief these families and improve their living conditions.”

PIB’s Sustainable Social Responsibility Policy attaches the utmost importance to the Bank’s contribution to development. It also stresses upon assuming an active role in serving the community, ensuring our People’s relief, improving their quality of life, and fostering their resilience amidst their difficult living conditions, in line with the global sustainable development goals.
