Palestine Islamic Bank and Palestine Polytechnic University Honor the Winners of the Scientific Research Competition
Palestine Polytechnic University and the Palestine Islamic Bank have honored the winners of the “Palestine Islamic Bank Award” for Scientific Research, which is an annual award sponsored by Palestine Islamic Bank awarded in six different categories.
The honoring ceremony was attended by Mr. Ahmad Saeed AlTamimi, member of the executive committee of the Palestine liberation organization, chairman of the university graduates union, and the chairman of the board of trustees of Palestine polytechnic university, in addition to the members of the university graduates union Mr. Rif’at Tahboub, Eng. Alaa Addin AlJaabari, in addition to Mr. Bayan Qasem, the General manager of Palestine Islamic Bank, and Mr. Nizar Bali the manager of the Bank south area, and the chairman of the higher council for innovation & excellence Eng. Adnan Samara, the mayor of Hebron municipality, Mr. Tayseer Abu Sneineh, a representative on behalf of the governor of Hebron Dr. Rafiq AlJabari, the director of the education directorate of central Hebron, Mr. Atef AlJamal, the president of the university Prof. Dr. Imad Alkhateeb and his deputies, the dean of graduate education and scientific research Dr. Murad Abu Sbaih, and the deans of the Faculties, the academic and administration staff at the University, in addition to a large group of representatives on behalf of numerous official and non-governmental institutions in the governorate.
AlTamimi welcomed the attendees stressing on the importance of this research award in reinforcing the pioneer role of the two institutions in supporting scientific research, and in honoring the excelling researchers in the State of Palestine. Additionally, AlTamimi congratulated the researchers for their scientific accomplishment, expressing his gratitude and appreciation of these efforts which contribute to improving the quality of scientific research in Palestine, as the University is part of the State’s institutions that seeks to upscale the society and to contribute to its development, advancement, and the attainment of sustainable development. Such development can only be attained through scientific research and the encouragement of researchers.
Bayan Qasem, the General Manager of Palestine Islamic Bank, asserted that supporting the education sector, including scientific research, is a priority for the Bank. This is due to the Bank’s deep belief of the importance of education in building a strong independent state, considering the large number of applicants for the Award as a proof of its success in creating positive change, and that it is a strong and active incentive for minds to create.
Moreover, Qasem thanked Palestine Polytechnic University for the distinctive efforts that it exerted during the previous years of the award, which include preparation, follow-up, and control up to this moment, where we celebrate “a group of distinguished scientists and researchers.”
From his side, Samara praised Palestine Polytechnic University and the Palestine Islamic Bank for this initiative that the Bank adopted which takes the results of scientific research. Additionally, he talked about his hope of transforming these research projects to entrepreneur companies to be sponsored by the Palestinian Innovation Fund.
Furthermore, AbuSnaineh praised the level to which the Palestine Polytechnic University has reached, and the development in the field of research in coordination with the local society organizations. Additionally, AbuSnaineh called for more investment in human capital.
AlJaabari conveyed to the audience the greetings of the Governor of Hebron, Major General Jabrin AlBakri, and stressed on the importance of focusing on the pioneering aspects, especially since the Palestinian society is in desperate need for creativity and scientific research due to the nature of the political and economic atmosphere.
In his speech, AlJamal spoke about the level of creativity and innovation in the projects conducted by the students and instructors of Palestine Polytechnic University which came to light and served the different institutions and sectors of the Palestinian society in all its aspects.
Alkhateeb expressed his delight for the strategic partnership with Palestine Islamic Bank for its sponsoring and encouragement of scientific research at the University, and for providing the researchers with the needed facilitations and resources, which encouraged the researchers to exert more serious efforts and to come up with practical and creative scientific results and to publish scientific researches in respected international journals. Furthermore, this award has increased the number of researchers and accomplishments at the University.
In this connection, AbuSbaih emphasized that this award is granted to winning researchers in appreciation of their efforts and their contribution to submitting distinguished scientific or technical outcomes in the form of one or more scientific researches published in well-respected scientific journals with high ratings. In addition, the award is granted in order to encourage researchers to make more accomplishments in form of scientific research that serve the society.
AbuSbaih explained the categories of the prize, its goals and the evaluation criteria. The number of participations this year was 25 from the different Palestinian universities in the West Bank and Gaza.
It is worth mentioning that the competition for the prizes offered by the Palestine Islamic Bank was from all Palestinian universities, therefore, a specialized committee was formed for the evaluation of the submitted requests in accordance with the announced regulations. The results were as follows:
First Category: the first prize, in the amount of (USD 2500) was granted to the researcher Maher Rateb Khdoor from AlQuds University. The second prize, in the amount of (USD 2000) was granted to the researcher Majdi Mohamed Najeeb Mafarjeh from Birzeit University. The third prize, in the amount of (USD 1000) was granted to the researcher Shihdah Joudeh, from Annajah National University.
Second Category: the first prize, in the amount of (USD 2500) was granted to the researcher Anas Rizq Hasan Sabarnah from AlQuds University. The second prize, in the amount of (USD 2000) was granted to the researcher Abeer Abdullah Ahmad Zarour (Abu Muais) from the Arab America University - Jenin. The third prize, in the amount of (USD 1000) was granted to the researcher Maisam Mohamed Ahmad Abdullah, from the Arab America University – Jenin.
Third Category: the prize, in the amount of (USD 2000), was granted to the researcher Dr. Murad Mohamed Hamed Ishnaiwer from Palestine Polytechnic University.
Fourth Category: the prize, in the amount of (USD 2000), was granted to the researcher Dr. Osama Atta from Palestine Polytechnic University.
Fifth Category: the prize, in the amount of (USD 4000), was granted to the researcher Dr. Moahemd AlAdam from Palestine Polytechnic University.
Sixth Category: the prize, in the amount of (USD 1000), was granted to the researcher Dr. Raed Amro from Palestine Polytechnic University.
At the end of the ceremony, the Research Evaluation Committee, which was formed from representatives from the different Palestinian universities, was honored. The committee members are: Dr. Mahmoud Farah Manasrah from the Arab America University – Jenin, Dr. Talal Shahwan from Birzeit University, Dr. Ilham AlKhatib from AlQuds University, and Dr. Murad Abu Sbaih.
