Palestine Islamic Bank Shares Iftar with Elderly in Nablus & Gaza

Palestine Islamic Bank organized with the support of its staff & management an Iftar during Ramadan for the elderly residents of the Wafaa’ Center for the Care of Elderly in Gaza and Beit Al Ajdad for the Elderly in Nablus, which is run under the supervision of the Palestinian Red Crescent, as part of the Palestine Islamic Bank’s Ramadan Charitable programme, which includes various volunteer activities focused on the orphans and the elderly.

In Gaza, The bank’s delegation was welcomed by Dr Jamal Khaswan, Chairman of the Wafaa’ Charitable Association, Dr. Wael Al Daya; Treasurer, Basman El Ashi Executive Director as well as Saeb Al Zaanin; Programs Manager who all visited the center’s various departments while offering an explanation for all its mechanisms. This was followed by a visit to the elderly living in the center where the visitors offered the residents gifts and then broke fast with them.

Meanwhile in Nablus, the Bank’s delegation was welcomed by Mrs. Bidaya Kanaan, Center Director for the Red Crescent’s Beit Al Ajdad, Ms. Magda Shashtari, Social Counselor at the center. The bank’s delegation was given a tour of the center and visited with the elderly also offering the residents gifts and broke fast with them. The delegation also discussed with the center’s director their needs and mechanisms for future cooperation with them.

Ms. Doha Wazany; the Palestine Islamic Bank’s Public Relations Manager considered that providing adequate care and support for the elderly was a moral obligation and that we all had a duty to show our appreciation and gratitude towards the elderly particularly since the elderly residing in homes did not have access to the necessary care and attention to ensure their well-being. Ms. Wazany hailed the role elderly care centers and shelters play in caring for their residents and the considerable effort required to provide care, emphasizing the Bank's support of this segment of community in order to build a strong cohesive society while stressing the management’s eagerness to make sustainable contributions that has positive impact on the community which shall contribute to creating a culture of volunteerism among staff.

The centers both expressed their sincere thanks to Palestine Islamic Bank for their community initiatives that emphasize the important role the private sector plays in ensuring that the community is taken care while highlighting that taking part in initiatives such as these have the greatest effect on the emotional well-being of this particular segment, bringing attention to the importance of caring for our elderly and creating an integrated care program for them and all underprivileged members of the community.
