PIB receives Best Islamic Banking Credit Card in Palestine award for 2022

The International Finance magazine granted Palestine Islamic Bank (PIB) the “Best Islamic Banking Credit Card in Palestine” award for 2022, for its World MasterCard, Platinum MasterCard, and Tayseer Card, the first card of its kind in the Islamic Banking market in Palestine.

The Bank received the reward upon an assessment conducted as per the best performance measurement criteria. The assessment was conducted by the Magazine’s editors who are well versed in the financial and banking fields.

Asem Masri, PIB Assistant General Manager for Planning and Development, received the award at a ceremony held by the Magazine in Dubai. The ceremony was attended by dozens of international banks and financial institutions’ managers.

Commenting on the award, Dr. Imad Al-Sadi, PIB General Manager, stated: “The Bank takes pride in its annual nomination for receiving many awards as a result of its continuous achievements in the field of Islamic Banking.” He noted that granting this award for World MasterCard, Platinum MasterCard, and Tayseer Card reiterates its innovative achievements in terms of Sharia-compliant e-payment and credit card solutions in Palestine, and comes as a result of PIB’s unique customer experience.

He added: “The three cards form a part of the Bank’s digitization strategy and contribute to enhancing the use of digital services and e-payment solutions. They also prove that Islamic banks have aspiring digitization plans, and that they are able to achieve them while complying with Sharia criteria and standards.

Al-Sadi confirmed that this achievement resulted from the Board of Directors and various committees’ adoption of the best governance and organizational excellence practices. It was also achieved thanks to the distinguished efforts of the Bank’s employees and the supervision of the Sharia Supervisory Board seeking to ensure that all of the Bank’s business is Sharia-compliant.

He also noted that these cards will motivate citizens to keep pace with advancements in financial services, thus contributing to increasing financial inclusion and fostering comprehensive financial development.

Holders of World MasterCard, Platinum MasterCard, and Tayseer Cards can use them for purchasing and paying by installments at different local points of sale and for making online payments. These cards also offer unique discounts and privileges in terms of tourism, travel, and shopping.

PIB’s mission and vision focus on providing quality and modern Sharia-compliant banking solutions and investing in technology. PIB also has a digital transformation strategy, which led to the launch of pioneering digital services such as the 24-hour digital call center, Islami Online and Islami Mobile services. Such products and services provide a unique package of easy and safe banking services which enhance the digital experience for individual and corporate customers. The bank was recently awarded the 2022 “Best bank for providing Islamic banking services and products in Palestine” award by The Arab Bankers Association and “The Banking Executive” magazine.
