PIB organizes a voluntary tree planting activity in Tulkarm

As part of its sustainable social responsibility program, the Palestine Islamic Bank (PIB) organized a tree planting event in the city of Tulkarm, in cooperation with the municipality, on the occasion of the World Environment Day.

The event, which targeted the greening of the Sikka Street in the city, was launched with the participation of Tulkarm Branch Manager Ammar Yassin and branch employees, in addition to the head of the Agriculture Department of the Tulkarm Municipality Amer Kulaibi and a number of municipality employees. The targeted area was greened, and an irrigation network was installed.

PIB General Manager, Dr. Imad Al-Sadi stated that this activity comes within the framework of the Bank's efforts to preserve the environment by increasing green spaces.

Al-Sadi added: "The Bank is aware of the unprecedented environmental challenges facing the world. Therefore, it is keen to adhere to all the provisions of the United Nations Global Compact related to the preservation of the environment and all relevant local laws. This forms indeed an essential part of PIB’s sustainable social responsibility program."

Al-Sadi pointed out that the Bank’s efforts to preserve the environment are not limited to increasing green spaces, since PIB ensures that its facilities and headquarters are environmentally friendly by relying on clean energy to generate power in more than 15 branches and offices, and by replacing energy-consuming devices with energy-saving ones. PIB also adopts modern and environmentally friendly means to isolate buildings, in addition to reducing the use of paper in its daily operations.

Al-Sadi indicated that the activity also comes within the framework of the bank's keenness to promote a culture of volunteering among its employees, seeing that it enhances their sense of belonging to the community.

It is noteworthy that in 2021, PIB obtained the award for best bank in the field of social responsibility by the International Finance Magazine, given its distinguished contributions in this field in line with the global sustainable development goals.
