PIB and Falasteen al-Khair Foundation Organize a Volunteer Day in Sebastia Town

Palestine Islamic Bank (PIB), in cooperation with Falasteen al-Khair Foundation, has organized a volunteer day in Sebastia town in Nablus governorate, as part of its sustainable social responsibility program. The event was attended by PIB’s General Manger, Mr. Imad al-Sadi, the bank’s Executive Management, the Manager of Falasteen al-Khair Foundation, Ms. Rula Salameh, the Advisor to the Commander of the National Security Forces for Humanitarian and Social Affairs, Major General Saadeh Saadeh, the Mayor of Sebastia village, Mr. Mohammad Azem, and representatives of the town dignitaries and institutions.

PIB’s staff in the Northern District participated in this event and were welcomed at the municipality headquarters before heading to a tree-planting activity, followed by a walking tour through the archaeological sites to explore their historic importance. The musical band of the National Security Forces also played its national anthems and music alongside to welcome the participants.

On behalf of the townspeople, Mr. Azem expressed pleasure with such a visit, and with the activities that support the resilience of its citizens and highlight the archaeological and touristic significance of the town, calling for concerted efforts by all parties to protect it and to promote local tourism to the town.

On his part, Mr. Al-Sadi said that the Bank is keen to strengthen the culture of volunteerism among its employees, and considers it as an essential part of the Bank’s sustainable social responsibility program. The Bank believes in the role it should play towards its country, and that volunteer work is indicative of a high sense of belonging and citizenship.

Mr. Al- Sadi added, “We have chosen Sebastia because it contains many prominent monuments and because of our conviction of the importance of preserving this historical heritage. Heritage does not survive without caring and preservation, and the trees that we have planted today affirm our belonging to this land.”

Mr. Al-Sadi praised the Bank's distinguished partnership with Falasteen al-Khair Foundation which includes diversified areas of cooperation such as relief projects for needy families, support for social institutions, and voluntary and awareness activities. He also thanked the Bank’s employees who were eager to participate in this activity and to affirm their sense of belonging and giving.

On her part, Ms. Salameh thanked PIB for its distinctive initiative, expressing hope that it would motivate other institutions and parties to visit Sebastia and support the resilience of its citizens.

Ms. Salameh added, “Our partnership with PIB is a distinguished model of successful cooperation between various institutions to serve national, societal and positive change.”

In his turn, Major General Saadeh Saadeh indicated that these events contribute to the consolidation of the Palestinian presence and the preservation of the archaeological treasure identity located in Sebastia, whilst pointing to the importance of joint projects carried out by PIB and Falasteen al-Khair Foundation, as well as the sustainable positive impact that resulted.

PIB encourages its employees to carry out voluntary activities and to enhance this culture within its social responsibility program, for which the Global Sustainable Development Goals serve as a general framework.
