Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research and Palestine Islamic Bank Examine the Mechanisms of Supporting Scientific Research

The Minister of Higher Education & Scientific Research, Dr. Mahmoud Abu Mweis and Palestine Islamic Bank General Manager, Imad Alsadi explored ways to support and enhance scientific research in Palestine, as well as the arrangements pertaining to the launch of the Bank’s Scientific Research Award for the year 2021.

In this context, Abu Mweis stressed the importance of their partnership with PIB, noting the significance of the support in which the Bank provides to the scientific research sector and the Student Lending Fund. He also indicated the Ministry’s keenness on promoting and directing scientific research in a way that meets the needs of the Palestinian community. Additionally, Abu Mweis presented the most prominent policies adopted by the ministry to enhance the governance and institutionalization of the higher education sector.

The Minister also emphasized the Ministry’s willingness to invest in various relations with the private sector in order to develop educational plans and programs in line with its need for occupational competencies; stressing its role in practical training in light of the skills and experience it offers to students.

For his part, Alsadi praised the Ministry’s efforts to support the scientific research process and enhance the quality of higher education outputs, stressing that the Bank gives priority to supporting the higher education sector within its social responsibility; given its status as a vital sector that constitutes the basis for achieving sustainable development.

“Every year, we work to increase the level of support provided to the educational sector; mainly, efforts poured into scientific research, through our annual award, which aims to encourage researchers to increase their research production and conduct original and specialized research that enhances the research landscape in Palestine”, added Alsadi.

Moreover, Alsadi underlined the importance of promoting a culture of scientific research within the educational process, as well as the importance of enabling students to acquire the necessary skills intended to help them conduct research, innovate and keep pace with the steady development in various fields worldwide; through accomplishing important research achievements that add new scientific value and highlight societal issues. In this context, Alsadi emphasized the importance of cooperation between the private sector and the higher education sector to support the wheel of development to serve the national economy.

The meeting was attended by the President of the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation for Higher Education Institutions, Dr. Muammar Shteiwi, PIB Assistant General Manager, Raed Najeeb and Assem Almasri, and Ibrahim Salman, Manager of the Marketing and Public Relations Department.

Furthermore, PIB allocates the bulk of its social responsibility program to support the education and health sectors, in line with its strategic vision to support the achievement of global goals for sustainable development, and annually implements dozens of projects that serve educational institutions in their various stages.
