PIB Sponsors a Number of Workshops on the Standard Methodology for Developing Competencies and Developing Training in the Work Environment

Within the framework of the cooperation agreement signed between Palestine Islamic Bank and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Ministry organized four workshops on “The Standard Methodology for Developing Competencies” and “Developing the Quality of Training in the Work Environment”; with the participation of more than 100 academics from several universities.

The Modern University College in Ramallah hosted the first workshop, which addressed the standard methodology for developing competencies; in the presence of the Director of Marketing and Public Relations at PIB, Ibrahim Salman, the Director of the Colleges Department at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ms. Mai Obaid, the Director of the Studies and Documentation Department at the Accreditation and Quality Authority at the Ministry, Ms. Rana Abu Zarour, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Modern University College, Eng. Samer Al-Shyoukhi, and the Dean of the College, Dr. Ribhi Basharat.

During which, Salman stressed that PIB’s support of the education sector stems from their desire to create positive and sustainable change thereof. Salman further expressed his optimism that the workshops, organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research with the support of the Bank, will contribute to achieving the required positive change, and contribute to developing curricula in a way that serves students and gives them greater opportunities in the job market post-graduation.

For her part, Abu Zaarour praised the role of PIB in supporting the various efforts of the Ministry, especially those related to scientific research; stressing the importance of partnership between the public and private sectors in advancing the educational process in all its aspects.

In turn, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Modern University College, Eng. Samer Al-Shyoukhi, said that this workshop is an affirmation of the commitment of the Higher Education Administration towards colleges, as it comes to align educational programs with professions in the market; while thanking PIB for supporting the efforts of universities and the Ministry of Higher Education in this field.

In Hebron, Palestine Polytechnic University hosted another workshop on the standard methodology for developing competencies, in the presence of the Director of the South District at PIB, Nazzal Bali, the Director of the Quality Department at the National Authority for Accreditation and Quality Eng. Eyad Abu Samra, the Director of the Faculties Department at the General Administration of Technical Education, Professor May Obaid and the University Deputy President for Academic Affairs Dr. Mustafa Abu Al-Safa, as well as a number of other administrative and academic staff at the university.

During which, Bali stressed the Bank’s keenness to partner with all academic institutions and support educational activities in order to improve the quality of education and create a better future for students at all educational levels; while praising the efforts exerted by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in developing the curricula and studying the job market, so as to provide students with all the skills that shall enable them to compete strongly for job opportunities available in the market.

For his part, Dr. Abu Al-Safa stressed the importance of partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in developing curricula that are in line with the market’s needs; while praising the efforts of PIB in supporting education, especially the Scientific Research Award, saying that it will contribute in improving scientific research outputs and motivate researchers.

Both workshops addressed the subject of vocational education and training strategy, as well as the standard methodology for developing education curricula and training thereof, in addition to the requirements of the job market and the need to develop a standard description of each profession.

Moreover, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with the support of PIB, organized two other workshops on developing the quality of training in the work environment; during which the importance of this type of training was highlighted and emphasized as a key element in facilitating the transition from the education and training institution to the labor world.

Both workshops were held at the Palestine Technical University - Khadouri and the Modern University College in Ramallah, with the participation of a group of interested academics.

The director of the Ramallah branch at Palestine Technical University - Khadoury, Dr. Murad Awadallah, stressed the importance of delving into an in-depth discussion on this topic due to its great importance in providing effective training; enabling the student to engage in the job market with ease.

Furthermore, PIB allocates the bulk of its Social Responsibility budget to support the education and health sectors, in line with its approach to achieve a positive and sustainable impact on society through the support in which it provides.
