PIB Hosts Delegation from the Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Faculty at the Arab American University
Palestine Islamic Bank (PIB) welcomed a delegation from the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at the Arab American University, which included a number of students and representatives from the supervising academic staff.
The purpose of the visit was to gain insight into the nature of the bank’s operations, its strategic directions, and both its current and future plans—particularly in the field of digital transformation. The visit aimed to bridge academic knowledge with labor market needs.
During his meeting with the delegation, Dr. Imad Al-Sadi, General Manager of PIB, stated that the bank takes pride in its collaboration with Palestinian universities and academic institutions, and in contributing to the integration of academic knowledge by involving students in field visits and training programs within the labor market. He emphasized the importance of such efforts in increasing students’ employment opportunities and, in turn, reducing graduate unemployment rates.
Dr. Al-Sadi added: “This role aligns with the Bank’s corporate social responsibility policy, through which the bank supports many educational institutions and participates in initiatives and programs that promote scientific research.”
He also stressed the strong cooperative relationship between PIB and the Arab American University, expressing the bank’s commitment to strengthening it across various academic and practical domains, creating a distinguished model of fruitful and integrated cooperation between the banking and educational sectors.
As part of the visit, Ragheb Hamdan, Director of the Risk Management Department at the Bank, delivered a presentation to the students on financial risk—its definition, types, calculation mechanisms, and mitigation strategies—illustrated with real-life examples from the banking sector in Palestine.
The delegation included Mr. Qais Obeid, Director of the Community Relations Department at the Arab American University, and Dr. Hudhaifa Al-Ashqar, a faculty member at the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. From the bank’s side, the delegation was received by Wafaa Odeh, Director of the Human Capital Department, and Ibrahim Salman, Director of Marketing and Public Relations.
In turn, Obeid thanked PIB for hosting the delegation, affirming the university’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Bank in various fields. He also highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence and data science for the Palestinian labor market, especially given the rapid global shift toward reliance on AI technologies.
PIB is driven by a mission to deliver modern, secure banking and investment solutions that adhere to Islamic Sharia principles. Backed by a robust cybersecurity framework, the bank is advancing a carefully crafted digital transformation strategy—culminating in the rollout of cutting-edge digital services that ensure the highest standards of customer data protection.
