Palestine Islamic Bank’s Central Archive Building Receives “Gold-Level Green Building” Certification

The Palestine Higher Green Building Council has awarded the “Green Building – Gold Level” certification to the Central Archive Building of Palestine Islamic Bank (PIB) in accordance with the Palestinian rating system.

The Central Archive Building earned this certification after meeting the approved standards for sustainability, energy efficiency, and resource management.

PIB General Manager, Dr. Imad Al-Sadi, stated that obtaining this certification reaffirms the Bank’s commitment to environmental protection in its strategic direction and operations, stemming from its sustainability policies. He emphasized that the adoption of environmentally friendly technologies and the use of energy- and water-saving systems directly contribute to reducing the Bank’s carbon footprint and reflect its vision of developing facilities that achieve a balance between high operational performance and environmental preservation.

Dr. Al-Sadi added: “The Central Archive Building reflects our deep commitment to sustainability and was designed to serve as a model for institutions seeking to preserve the environment in their operations. It has been constructed according to the latest green building specifications, incorporating advanced technologies for energy conservation, generation, and recycling through innovative solar energy solutions. It is also equipped with rainwater harvesting systems and insulation materials that reduce overall energy consumption.”

He further affirmed that this achievement aligns with the Board of Directors’ ongoing directives to adhere to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards in order to strengthen the sustainable orientation across all the Bank’s activities.

The Central Archive Building is the most advanced facility of its kind in Palestine. It is equipped with sophisticated electromechanical systems that ensure resistance to fire and humidity, regulate temperature levels, and provide adequate ventilation. Additionally, it features state-of-the-art automated sorting and archiving systems.

Since 2014, PIB has increasingly relied on clean energy to power its branches and facilities, reflecting its commitment to environmental protection and the progressive implementation of environmental governance standards.
